Missincat - Back on my feet

Caterina Barbieri was born in Italy. Actually this name is much too pretty for being concealed behind a pseudonym. But as Caterina says: “To have a pseudonym is like having a second identity. Like Clark Kent, who has its pseudonym Superman – with the only difference, that Missincat doesn´t have superpower.” But she has super talent and super voice…

Now, Missincat is a Singer/Songwriter living in Berlin. For six years she was part of the Italian rock-pop band Vertigini. With the band she released a record and toured all over Italy. But then she felt that the right way for her was to go solo. Founded in December 2006, she and her solo-performance, which was right from the start an extremely minimal and intense performance with acoustic guitar and little else, they won at the biggest Italian summer festival “Heineken Jammin Festival” in June 2007. And so the “Heineken Jammin Festival” was also the sponsor of the recordings of her first album. In summer 2007 MissinCat met Carlos Fleischmann from the Berlin based booking agency Creative Talent and started working with him. In October 2007 she performs as the opening act of Amy Winehouse in all the German shows of the European tour. In the meantime she went to the studio and started working. Producing all the songs by herself, she was always according to the principle: “less is more”. In December 2007 she finished her record, in February 2009 it was released by Revolver Distribution Services / R.D.S..

The first Single “Back On My Feet” gets an extraordinary feedback from the german radio stations. Berlin based radio station “RADIO EINS” supports Missincat as well as “Radio Fritz”. And also the bigger radio stations, like BR3 and Eins Live / WDR picked the single and proved themselves as big supporters. “Back On My Feet” pays tribute to MissinCats idols: the Beatles, Velvet Underground, Leonard Cohen, Nick Drake, Billie Holiday, Sigur Ros. What is more: it contains everything that makes Missincat: an expressive voice, thrifty arrangements and songs full of feeling. “ I still can feel my heart breaking when I´m singing a sad love song. I´m dealing very honestly with my songs – in both: writing and performing”, she says.
